Pastry Workshop Saturday, March 23, 2019, 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Pastry is a versatile dough which can be used in both sweet and savoury recipes. In this workshop you will learn how to make an all purpose variation that can be used for tarts and pies. There are few ingredients, so technique is everything. You will learn all the steps necessary to ensure success in your own kitchen. The method will be demonstrated for tarts, single and double pie crusts. Participants will make the dough and take it home to bake. Samples of both tarts and pie are provided. Lard (an animal source) will be used but if a vegetable source is preferred (shortening), please indicate this at registration.
Participants are asked to bring equipment from home and the list will be provided. However, please do not purchase equipment you do not already have. The instructor will bring extras and it is important to know what kind of equipment to purchase before buying. All ingredients are provided.
